A New Era in Health Sciences: CAMI Groundbreaking at PBC

Wednesday, October 30th marked an inspiring milestone at the Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC) as the University of Arizona Health Sciences held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Center for Advanced Molecular and Immunological Therapies (CAMI).

The event celebrated not only the beginning of construction but also the ambitious vision behind CAMI—a center dedicated to advancing research in molecular and immunological sciences and fostering cutting-edge therapies to address some of the most pressing health challenges of our time.

The ceremony brought together community leaders, scientists, and university stakeholders, each sharing their excitement for CAMI’s potential to transform health outcomes and elevate Phoenix’s role in the biosciences sector. With over 300 attendees, we were honored to hear remarks from UA’s new president, Dr. Suresh Garimella; CAMI Executive Director, Deepta Bhattacharya; and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego.

As shovels hit the ground, attendees could feel the energy and enthusiasm surrounding the project. The new center promises to not only strengthen the University of Arizona’s research capabilities but also create valuable partnerships that will engage local and global health communities, encouraging the sharing of resources and knowledge.

CAMI is poised to be a vital asset for both the Phoenix Bioscience Core and the greater Arizona region, aiming to attract top-tier talent and foster advancements that will benefit patient care and the biomedical field as a whole.

The groundbreaking closed with a sense of optimism and forward momentum, underscoring CAMI’s mission to catalyze progress in health sciences and reinforce the Phoenix Bioscience Core as a leading center for scientific discovery.
