Introducing our Leading Women Panelists

Moderator – Scarlett Spring, Executive Director Phoenix Bioscience Core

Scarlett serves as Executive Director for the The Phoenix Bioscience Core. The PBC is a place where unprecedented collaborations transpire between innovators and institutions of research excellence, setting a new standard in advancing precision medicine from discovery to delivery. Scarlett is also co-founder of TapRoot Interventions & Solutions, a women-owned tech company at the intersection of AI, healthcare and behavioral health. TapRoot is a B2B, AI-driven technology company that uses natural language processing to provide the tools and data necessary for professional caregivers to de-escalate and prevent Alzheimer’s/dementia behaviors confidently.

Kristen Oelschlager, Chief Operating Officer, Castle Biosciences

Kristen joined Castle Biosciences in 2008 as the executive director of operations, being promoted to vice president of clinical operations in 2013, senior vice president of clinical operations in 2018 and to her current role of chief operating officer in 2021. Her extensive background of more than 15 years in clinical nursing, clinical operations services and clinical research brought a unique perspective that has been instrumental in Castle’s success and growth from an early start-up to a thriving public company with almost 600 employees. Kristen was named to The Healthcare Technology Report’s Top 25 Women Leaders in Biotechnology of 2023.

Tracey Dodenhoff, Vice President, Entrepreneurship + Innovation, ASU Knowledge Enterprise

Tracey is Arizona State’s Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, where she is responsible for accelerating the growth of entrepreneurship throughout the ASU community, the local Phoenix area and the broader state of Arizona. Residing within the University’s Knowledge Enterprise, Dodenhoff’s role is part of a collaborative university-wide effort to grow dynamic, inclusive entrepreneurship across sectors, educational backgrounds and career stages. With a personal mission to “Help Good People do Great Things with Innovation”, Tracey is a mission-focused entrepreneur dedicated to high impact solutions. Tracey’s deep experience encompasses technology entrepreneurship, innovation leadership and venture investing. Over her career, Tracey has launched and invested in over two dozen startups, as well as partnering with ventures to accelerate the growth of new product initiatives across material innovation, med tech, consumer, software/mobile and industrial verticals.

Kristen Swingle, President and Chief Operating Officer, Critical Path Institute

Kristen serves as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Critical Path Institute (C-Path) .  Prior to joining C-Path in 2019, Kristen served as the VP of Stem Cell Operations at Cord Blood Registry where she was responsible for overseeing all operations at CBR’s laboratory in Tucson, Arizona, since 2007.  She has over two decades’ worth of experience in the medical and molecular sciences industry with a strong background in product development and manufacturing, quality and regulatory affairs management, project and fiscal management, and team leadership.  As President COO of C-Path, she is responsible for the daily operations of the organization and development and implementation of C-Path’s global strategy and goals. Kristen Swingle was elected Chairwoman of  the AZBio Board of Directors in January 2018 and served as chair until December 2023.
