Building the Next Generation of Healthcare Talent in Arizona
Connecting students, academic programs, and community partners to strengthen experiential learning and workforce development.
The Healthcare Pathways Initiative
Designed to expand opportunities for students, strengthen collaboration across healthcare sectors,
and connect academic programs with community organizations.
We come together to help students gain real-world experience while addressing Arizona’s critical healthcare workforce needs.
In alignment with the City of Phoenix Governor’s Cabinet Goals and the Arizona Board of Regents’ Healthy Tomorrow initiative,
we are supporting students as they enter the workforce and helping the state retain top healthcare talent.
Bridging the Gap
Creating healthcare pathways through experiential learning
Arizona is facing one of the most severe healthcare workforce shortages in the nation.
The state falls below the national average in nearly every healthcare profession.
Many professionals are leaving the field due to burnout, mental health strain, staffing shortages, and limited access to clinical training—making it increasingly difficult to retain talent and for Arizonans to access care.
That’s where you come in.
One of the most effective ways to address this crisis is by investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals through hands-on learning opportunities.
Help give students the opportunity to develop hands-on skills alongside preceptors and clinical teams like yours. With a fast-growing population and rising demand for care, the need for accessible, high-quality healthcare is more urgent than ever.
By becoming a preceptor you are directly creating a lasting impact for Arizonans in need!
Why be a preceptor?
1
Healthcare Workforce Retention
Approximately 60-80% of interns stay working where they completed their internship placement.
2
Stay in forefront of innovation
Access to top tier university talent pipeline of students ready to apply modern healthcare technologies, data-driven practices, and innovative solutions in your clinical setting
3
Establish healthcare leadership
Increased visibility and engagement with community organizations, stakeholders, and ecosystem builders
