More students across northern Arizona will soon have new opportunities to pursue nursing careers, thanks to a $100,000 donation from Arizona’s Blue Cross Blue Shield to NAU’s College of Nursing. 

The funding supports the launch of NAU’s new Global Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Global BSN) program, designed to expand access to nursing education for students in small towns and rural communities. Starting in Fall 2025, the program will enroll more than 30 students, helping address the state’s shortage of healthcare workers, particularly in medically underserved areas. In addition, the donation provides scholarships for 10 students in NAU’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, enabling them to complete their education and serve critical mental health needs in their communities. 

This investment is part of Arizona Blue Cross Blue Shield’s broader commitment to improving access to health services by supporting future healthcare providers in Northern Arizona and beyond.
