Lewis James is based in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, where he undertakes research and teaching in sport and exercise nutrition. His research group mainly focuses on the regulation and optimisation of water and salt balance for human health and performance, with additional work focusing on energy balance regulation and selected nutritional supplements. He has published over 100 academic journal articles, contributed to several books, and acted as a consultant for various elite athletes, sports teams, and sports federations.
