The University of Arizona has been selected as one of only five academic institutions to partner with Google on a groundbreaking new research initiative exploring the intersection of life sciences and Quantum AI. The program, known as REPLIQA, will advance research into how quantum effects may influence biological systems and human physiology, opening new possibilities for medicine, neuroscience, and drug discovery.
At the Phoenix Bioscience Core, researchers within the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix’s Center for Applied Nanobioscience and Medicine are contributing to this pioneering effort through work focused on next-generation methodologies, drug delivery systems, and quantum computational tools. Led by researchers including Dr. Frederic Zenhausern, the team will investigate isotope effects of noble gases such as Xenon as potential “atomic drugs” connected to anesthetic action and changes in neural coherence. This research represents a significant step toward validating the role of quantum technologies in understanding complex physiological mechanisms and shaping the future of quantum medicine.
This collaboration further highlights the Phoenix Bioscience Core’s role as a hub for innovative, interdisciplinary research that brings together healthcare, technology, and discovery science to address some of medicine’s most complex challenges.
