5th Annual Lookin’ For A Cure 5k

November 8 @ 7:00 am – 10:00 am
A Cure In Sight brings fifth annual Lookin’ For A Cure 5K to Scottsdale on Nov. 8

Community run/walk, supported by partners HonorHealth and Castle Biosciences, raises awareness and funds for ocular melanoma research and patient support

A Cure In Sight (ACIS) invites runners, walkers, families and community supporters to the fifth annual Lookin’ For A Cure Scottsdale 5K on Sunday, Nov. 8, at Eldorado Park.

The event takes place from 8 to 11 a.m., bringing the community together in support of people affected by ocular melanoma, a rare eye cancer.

With support from partners HonorHealth Research Institute and Castle Biosciences, the Scottsdale event offers an opportunity to honor patients, celebrate survivors, remember loved ones and help advance the search for a cure. A Cure In Sight thanks both organizations for standing alongside the ocular melanoma community and helping make this gathering possible.

“When patients are diagnosed with rare diseases such as ocular melanoma, it’s hard for patients to find a community of support and a community of physicians to provide up-to-date, high-quality care,” said Justin Moser, M.D., Medical Director of Melanoma and Cutaneous Oncology at HonorHealth Research Institute.

“Participating in the 5K lets patients in Arizona and the southwest who are diagnosed with this rare disease, know they have a community to help them navigate the complex care for their rare disease,” said Dr. Moser, who also is an Associate Research Professor at Arizona State University’s John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering, and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix.

Lookin’ For A Cure is part of ACIS’s nationwide series of community run/walks supporting ocular melanoma research and patient programs. Net proceeds help advance research and provide resources for patients and families, including financial assistance, education and emotional support.

Participants of all ages are welcome to walk or run the scenic out-and-back course through Eldorado Park. Leashed dogs are welcome to join walkers. Race amenities include finisher medals, refreshments, commemorative race bibs, free downloadable photos and official finish times with age-group placements. Free parking is available near the starting area. A virtual 5K option allows supporters to participate from wherever they are.
