Incorporating Technology into Hydration Self-Assessments

Mitchell Zaplatosch is an assistant professor and registered dietitian at Kennesaw State University. In this role, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses focusing on nutrition and performance, exercise physiology, and statistics for exercise science. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in diet and exercise from Iowa State University, where he worked as a personal trainer and sports nutrition intern. He completed his dietetic training at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Illinois. He received his PhD in exercise physiology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with an emphasis on hydration physiology. His dissertation focused on the relationships between habitual fluid intake and indicators of stress and energy balance. He has published several papers on hydration and thermal physiology and delivered several presentations on hydration physiology and behaviors at the regional and national level. His current research focuses on identifying and assessing strategies to improve dietary behaviors for metabolic health and performance, including strategies to improve hydration status.
