Water Talks – Water and Survival: A Story from Nature and Evolution to Modern Disease

Survival is linked with having enough water, food, and oxygen. Here we describe a metabolic pathway aimed at conserving water that provides major insights into the cause of obesity. Be prepared for a surprise around every corner. Attendees can also earn one continuing education unit for the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) via the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), and the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) via the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
Speaker: Dr. Richard J. Johnson
Dr. Richard J. Johnson is a professor of medicine at the University of Colorado. Dr. Johnson is a clinician and a medical scientist who has been internationally recognized for his work on sugar, especially fructose and its product, uric acid; and how they may play a role in obesity and diabetes. He is also an expert on heat stress, hydration and metabolic water.
