Supercharging Innovation: Dr. Timothy Marlowe Receives SBIR/STTR Grants for Success Award
As part of our ongoing commitment to advancing translational research and fostering entrepreneurial development, the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix is proud to announce the latest recipient of the Supercharging SBIR/STTR Grants for Success award.
Supported by the Flinn Foundation through the Biotech Research Development and Entrepreneurialism (BRDE) initiative, this program provides strategic supplemental funding designed to enhance the competitiveness of promising SBIR/STTR proposals and accelerate progress toward commercialization.

Dr. Timothy Marlowe
Project Title: Advancing FAK Inhibitors Toward IND Readiness for Fibrotic Lung Disease Therapeutics
Dr. Marlowe’s project, backed by NIH funding, was selected for its strong alignment with the Flinn Foundation’s mission and the goals of the Supercharging SBIR/STTR program. His research focuses on developing novel therapeutic strategies for fibrotic lung diseases—an area of significant unmet medical need. The supplemental award will support key preclinical activities essential for advancing his FAK inhibitor technology toward Investigational New Drug (IND) readiness and bolstering future SBIR/STTR submissions.
This recognition reflects Dr. Marlowe’s outstanding contributions to translational science and his dedication to advancing innovative research from the bench to the bedside.
