Myths about Counseling

Many people hesitate to seek counseling due to common myths and misconceptions. Some believe that counseling is only for those in crisis, when in reality, it’s a valuable resource for anyone looking to improve their well-being, navigate life changes, or develop coping strategies. Others fear that seeking help is a sign of weakness, when in fact, it takes strength and self-awareness to prioritize mental health. Counseling is a confidential, judgment-free space where individuals can gain tools for managing stress, relationships, and personal growth. No issue is too big or too small—everyone deserves support.

Mental health is a crucial component of life success, and Northern Arizona University (NAU) is committed to ensuring the Phoenix community has access to the resources they need. North Valley Counseling Services provides confidential, professional support designed to help you navigate challenges and changes.
