Meet the rest of the PBC community through our monthly Faces and Spaces networking event. Each month join a small group of staff, researchers and community members from around the PBC to learn about a new area of the campus, upcoming programming and other exciting things happening right in your neighborhood. Grab a cup of coffee and collaborate! This event will introduce the Translational Genomics Research Institute, or TGen, an affiliate of the City of Hope. TGen was established in 2002 through an assembly of more than fifty leaders and visionaries in science, medicine, government and business by Dr. Jeffrey Trent. Today, it is a foundational company in the PBC and is a leader in translational research in the areas of cancer, neurological disorders, rare childhood disorders, and pathogen and microbome work.

Understanding SBIR/STTR Data Rights and How to Protect Your Intellectual Property

Small businesses often have concerns about what happens to their background Intellectual Property (IP), including any new IP discovered while working under an SBIR or STTR program award. During this workshop, we will discuss specific requirements at proposal submission and during grant/contract performance that will ensure IP is properly documented and protected. Inventors, entrepreneurs and technology small business owners who are eligible under the SBIR/STTR program should attend. This includes those new to the program as well as small business owners who have received past SBIR/STTR awards.

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers competitively awarded grants to qualified small businesses to support high quality research related to important scientific problems and opportunities in agriculture that could lead to significant public benefits. The program stimulates technological innovations in the private sector and strengthens the role of federal research and development in support of small businesses. Please come and learn about the technologies the USDA is funding and how to gain access to up to $100,000 in non-dilutive funding!
