
The Flinn Foundation recently hosted its annual BioCapital Conference on March 6, 2025, at Creighton University, bringing together over 260 key stakeholders and community members from Arizona’s bioscience ecosystem. The sold-out event provided a platform for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss funding opportunities, growth strategies, and innovations within the bioscience and health technology sectors.

The conference commenced with opening remarks delivered by the events MC Helen Goldstein of Procopio and Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego. The first session, titled “The Bioscience/Life Science Funding Landscape,” featured insights from the Life Sciences and Healthcare Services Group at J.P. Morgan, offering attendees a comprehensive overview of current funding trends and opportunities in the sector.

A subsequent panel discussion, “Managing Growth & Capital Needs as You Scale,” included speakers such as Chris Yoo, Ph.D., of Xcellerant Ventures, and Louis Breton of Rampart Bioscience. This session addressed the challenges and strategies associated with scaling bioscience ventures, providing practical advice for managing growth and securing necessary capital.
The conference also featured a keynote address by Michael Gorton, founder of Teladoc, who shared his experiences and insights into the evolving landscape of telemedicine and digital health.

Additionally, the 10 finalists of Flinn Foundation’s Bioscience Entrepreneur Program including Aces Diagnostics, Anuncia Medical (Grant recipient), Aspiro Therapeutics, Harmonic Discovery, Hypersound Medical, ImmunoShield Therapeutics, King Therapeutics, Macula Vision Systems (Grant recipient), MindFit, Paxauris.

Throughout the day, attendees engaged in networking opportunities, discussions with venture capitalists and local CEOs, and workshops focused on storytelling and communication strategies within the bioscience industry.
The event reinforced Arizona’s commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration in the biosciences, further solidifying the state’s position as a leader in this rapidly evolving field.
